Legnano Parte Due

Lisa on June 6th, 2008

Day 2 and we are all just slightly jet-lagged.  It was another rainy day in Legnano, however, we are all enjoying ourselves.

Breakfast (continental) was at 8am followed by a rehearsal for the show tonight.  We are performing the first of our three 20 minute programs - sacred set - at the opening of the festival.  All of the other groups have or will arrive today and it will give us all the chance to meet each other and hopefully hear some wonderful music.

The nice thing about being in a festival is the opportunity to listen to the concerts.  This is something we didn’t have the ability to do when we were in competition in Spain.

A small rehearsal after breakfast to run through the program which is memorized.

Lunch is always in the same place - usually a choice of 2 pasta dishes or a risotto, a choice of a meat dish, and a veggie.  Mineral water is provided as beverage.  Nothing is pistachio cafe better after lunch than a stroll over to the gelato place.  Many choices and you can have up to 3 flavors in a cup or cone.  So far my favorite combination is pistachio & coffee, but then this is only day two.

We headed out to the sound check at the church, a good 20 minute walk through the city, and were pleased by the great acoustics.  Each choir had 15 minutes to test the space and get a feel for what could be expected at the concert tonight.

Dinner (always much like lunch) at 6:30, then back to the hotel to change and ride the bus at 7:45.  Concerts are at 9pm.

We’re looking forward to a great show!

Your donations are always accepted - thank you for your support!

Legnano, Italy Part Uno

Nothing like typing a blog entry while watching “Friends” in the hotel lobby in Italian….
We arrived safe and sound.  Amazing.  Not one incident unlike some of our previous trips abroad.  The security line at MSP was practically non-existent, all the instruments made it through TSA and the flights were on-time, in fact, we arrived in [...]

The Basilica by Candlelight

Lisa on February 24th, 2008

What a beautiful show last night.  The ambiance couldn’t have been more perfect with the lights gently dimming from piece to piece.  My wonderful comrades performed impeccably and the crowd couldn’t have been more gracious allowing us to sing without applause throughout the evening.  Cell phones were also hushed thanks to opening remarks from our Board [...]
