‘CELESTIAL HARVEST’

Friday-Sunday: The Rose Ensemble could give lessons in intellectually ambitious, sensuously satisfying programming to its less daring brethren. Consider its season opener, “Celestial Harvest,” which takes on nothing less than eschatology (last things — not to be confused with scatology or scat singing). Recently returned from concerts in France, the group has fashioned an evening of diverse chants, Renaissance motets and a new piece by Grinnell College Prof. John Rommereim, its current composer-in-residence. Come an hour early for the preconcert presentation. (8 p.m. Fri. and Sat., 4 p.m. next Sun., Sacred Heart Chapel, Cathedral of St. Paul, 239 Selby Av., St. Paul, Fri.; Basilica of St. Mary, 88 N. 17th St., Mpls., Sat.; Wayzata Community Church, 125 E. Wayzata Blvd., Wayzata, Sun. $17-$35 Fri., Sat.; $23 Sun. 651-225-4340 or www.RoseEnsemble.org.)
