Shake, rattle and roll..

May 25, 2009

Roll with it would be the catch phrase for last weekend.  After a long overdue visit to San Diego for to celebrate my mother’s 75th birthday, it was quite the welcome home present to feel an earthquake from the 15th floor of my brother’s condo in downtown!

The Rose Ensemble gave a concert at The Getty Center this past Saturday evening and most left on Sunday before they had a chance to share the experience.

What an impressive museum.  The grounds are magnificent – all done in travertine and terrazzo stone, fountains and rolling grassy hills and beautiful gardens.  I missed most of the sunshine – the fog started rolling in around 3:30 in the afternoon and by the time I was out of rehearsal it was pretty damp and cloudy.  Still really beautiful.

Sauced, a Neighborhood Bistro (that needs to stay)

sauced 300x225 Sauced, a Neighborhood Bistro (that needs to stay)

UPDATE – Sauced – May she rest in peace…

Well, my favorite little neighborhood Bistro is no more.  Gone with the way of the economy, Sauced had to close its doors last week after a brief year, leaving me without a refuge for the likes of neighborhood chains like Applebee’s.
John and staff made a concious effort to bring a new level of food experience to North Minneapolis.  Hopefully others will follow in their footsteps and realize that there are people living in this area of the city that do appreciate quality food.
Thank you, John.
(p.s. – if you know where my husband & I can find a restaurant serving a really good duck breast in town, please inform!) Read more
