Shake, rattle and roll..

Roll with it would be the catch phrase for last weekend. After a long overdue visit to San Diego for to celebrate my mother’s 75th birthday, it was quite the welcome home present to feel an earthquake from the 15th floor of my brother’s condo in downtown!
The Rose Ensemble gave a concert at The Getty Center this past Saturday evening and most left on Sunday before they had a chance to share the experience.
What an impressive museum. The grounds are magnificent – all done in travertine and terrazzo stone, fountains and rolling grassy hills and beautiful gardens. I missed most of the sunshine – the fog started rolling in around 3:30 in the afternoon and by the time I was out of rehearsal it was pretty damp and cloudy. Still really beautiful.
Spring has sprung, finally…

April Showers have begun to fall and the lawn is developing this beautiful emerald color, trees are beginning to pop and the buds on my daffodils are swelling. I’m hoping this year that they will actually bloom. Last Spring was not kind – we had a warm spell and then a freeze – darn near killed most growing things that felt safe to come out again.

Touring, TPT & Concerts

All in the course of one week! Last weekend I had the pleasure of working with The Rose Ensemble as we did a residency at the Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis. This residency consisted of participating in a conference in which we shared our music of Three Faiths – Christianity, Judaism and Muslim. We have been working with this music for some time know and this has become one of more popular touring programs.
Last weekend we took this program back to our home base and performed it for the Twin Cities.

singing department. December concerts are in the past, I’m up to my armpits in snow, and I’m actually trying to enjoy some time at home catching up on the things that have fallen to the wayside. Especially sending my long overdue holiday presents home to my family!

Many of you may know or many of you may not know that I am an abstract digital artist. This Friday, November 14th marks the reception for my official gallery debut in the Twin Cities at The Frank Stone Gallery in NE Minneapolis. A recent blog post says the following:
Digital Artist Lisa Drew begins a two week show at Frank Stone Gallery this coming Thursday, November 13th. The opening reception is Friday, November 14th from 5-9pm.
Lisa’s work is dynamic, studied and energized. She has created everything from minimalist interpretations of stained glass to whisical stills of “dinos.” Read more
A Great Weekend for Art

It was a great weekend for art. On Saturday evening I was privledged to be one of 80 artists that donated work to a fundraising art sale benefiting the prevention of homelessness in Minneapolis.
The event was held at gallery space at The Traffic Zone for Arts near the new ballpark in Minneapolis. An excellent space that was able to display hundreds of art pieces and was packed to capacity at times. The atmosphere was one of a great party where people mingled and met new faces and discussed the works of local artists displayed.
